Adekola Adeshina, 48, was arrested by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command on suspicion of defiling his neighbor's 10-year-old daughter. SP Josephine Adeh, the command's spokesperson, said in a statement on Sunday, March 26, 2023, that the suspect was apprehended by operatives attached to the Apo Divisional Police Headquarters and confessed to carrying out the heinous act on multiple occasions.
According to the PPRO, the victim's mother, Rose Solomon, reported the case to the command on February 22, 2023. At around 10:15 a.m. on 22/2/23, officers from the Federal Capital Territory Police Command attached to the Apo Divisional Police Headquarters received a complaint from one Rose Solomon of behind-Prince & Princess Estate that she suspected her neighbour, one Adekola Adeshina, a 48-year-old male, of sexually engaging her 10-year-old daughter, Faith Solomon," the statement read.
Shortly after being arrested and questioned, the suspect voluntarily elected in a written statement to have committed the heinous act several times. While Faith Solomon, ten years old, is undergoing medical examination, the Commissioner of Police FCT Command, CP Sadiq Idris Abubakar PhD., mni, wishes to urge parents and guardians to pay closer attention to changes in their wards' behavioural patterns around individuals and ensure that measures are put in place to protect them from sexual crimes.
