Full Story: Barcelona President Resignation

  With the entire board,  Barcelona  president Josep Maria Bartomeu has resigned  from their posts. The president had been due to officially end his tenure next year, with elections called for March, but the club's members called for a vote of no confidence in an effort to get Bartomeu out immediately. A total of 20,687 votes were gathered for the motion against Bartomeu, passing the threshold of 16,250 signatures required for the vote to go ahead.  The Barca board repeatedly tried to postpone the vote but, on Monday, local authorities rejected the club's push to delay the proceedings.  As a result, the vote was set to go ahead in the coming weeks, but will no longer be necessary as Bartomeu and the board have stepped down. The prolific 35-year-old attacker joined Floyd Mayweather and Tiger Woods as the only athletes to accumulate $1 billion Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first footballer in history to become a billionaire during his career. According to Forbes, the Juventus star made $105 million (£83m) before tax in the last year, taking his total worth over the $1 billion (£789m) mark. The 35-year-old attacker has been named the fourth-highest earning celebrity in 2020 by the magazine, behind tennis legend Roger Federer, rapper Kanye West and Kylie Jenner. Bolivia Plane Crash Claims 6 Live

A Bolivian  military plane crashed on Saturday, killing two crew members and four Spaniards. The Spaniards were en route to catch a flight back to Spain, the Bolivian Defense Ministry said in a statement, identifying them as Francisco José Gallegos Gonzáles, Yandira Olivera Velarde, Delis Salvatierra Velarde and Alba Aparicio Formas.      The plane went down in a marshy area on the outskirts of the northeastern city of Trinidad, the statement said, adding that the investigation to the cause of the accident was underway.     The aircraft was also carrying coronavirus test samples to the city of Santa Cruz.   Initial findings showed that the plane reported that it planned to return to the airport in Trinidad 12 minutes after take-off due to engine failure. Contact with the aircraft was then lost.

Lionel  Messi has spent the last 16 years of his illustrious career at Camp Nou, but there is a clause in his current contract which permits him to leave at the end of any season should he choose to do so. A number of off-field issues have overshadowed Barca's latest campaign, with a public spat between Messi and sporting director Eric Abidal over Ernesto Valverde's sacking in January marking the lowest point for the club. At the moment, it has been reported that the highly prized asset is ready to call time on a historic spell in Catalonia when the transfer market reopens due to all the controversy, with Inter mooted as a possible next destination.
