Governor Hope Uzodinma's country home in orlu Imo state has been attacked by unknown gunmen.  It was gathered they invaded the Governor’s residence in Omuma in Oru East Local Government Area in early hours of Saturday. They reportedly killed two security men on duty before torching it. It was also learnt vehicles parked at the compound and part of the building were affected by the fire. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, confirmed the incident. According to him: “It is true but the information is not still clear. It is not true that several security men lost their lives. About two security men on duty at the governor’s house were killed. NSCDC personnel was among the security men who lost their lives during the attack.” Full details soon......  

  20 Czech diplomats were on Sunday Expelled from Russia in retaliation for a slew of diplomatic expulsions by Prague and gave the affected Czech diplomats just over 24 hours to leave the country, the RIA news agency quoted the foreign ministry as saying. Recall that the Czech Republic on Saturday Expelled 18 Russian diplomats, giving them 72 hours to leave, after saying that two alleged Russian spies accused of a nerve agent poisoning in Britain in 2018 were behind a deadly explosion at a Czech ammunition depot four years earlier. The Czech Republic said it had notified NATO and European Union allies that it suspected Russia of causing the 2014 blast, and European Union foreign ministers were set to discuss the matter at their meeting on Monday.

  The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday arrested the former Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, over alleged money laundering. The ex Governor was arrested at his office in Abuja. Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, told Vanguard that the news was true. “Okorocha has been arrested by our men”, he said in a telephone chat.

  According to reports, Joe Biden and the Department Of Justice have asked U.S. attorneys appointed by former President Trump to resign from their posts by the end of the month. A senior Biden administration official on Tuesday said that 56 U.S. attorneys have until Feb. 28 to resign. In a statement, the acting Attorney General Monty Wilkinson said, "We are committed to ensuring a seamless transition.'' "Until U.S. Attorney nominees are confirmed, the interim and acting leaders in the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices will make sure that the department continues to accomplish its critical law enforcement mission, vigorously defend the rule of law, and pursue the fair and impartial administration of justice for all."
