Buhari Issues Threat To Shut Down The Internet Over The #Endsars Protest

  Abdul Mahmud, a former Students' union leader and activist, has lent his voice to the #EndSARS movement which has been revitalized in the last few days.  In a tweet he shared, Mahmud alleged that President Buhari is desperate and ''the threat to shut down Nigeria's internet over the #EndSARS protest is real.''   See his tweet below;   Buhari is desperate. The threat to shut the internet is real. I mentioned it to protesters on Saturday. It is the last dice of this irresponsible government. Time to start exchanging telephone numbers! #SARSMUSTEND We must resist the shutting down as it will imperil small businesses, hospitals that depend on the net for specialist online services, and cripple our economy. Buhari doesn't care; but we must force him to care! Nation-building isn't about exercising naked power!  

Breaking news: Inspector General Of Police Disbands SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad)

  Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Nigeria Police, has disbanded the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force nationwide.    The IG made the announcement in a live broadcast on Sunday October 11, and confirmed the operatives will be redeployed to other police formations and commands. Nigeria Vice President's Daughter Joins #endsars campaign

  Vice President Yemi Osinbajo's daughter, Kiki has joined the #EndSARS campaign aimed at stopping police brutality and scrapping the controversial police unit.    Sharing a photo of the #EndSARS campaign, Kiki wrote;    POLICE BRUTALITY MUST END NOW.. #endpolicebrutality #endsars   However, in other news, it is gathered that President Buhari's daughter has also joined in the #Endsars campaign.    

The Death Of A Man And His Son In India Police Custody Has Sparked Outrage

India has been trending recently on different levels of incidents which have been marked by protests across the country. The latest is the  death of a father and son in police custody in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, which has caused outrage after the victims' family accused the police of torturing the duo in custody. P Jayaraj, 59, and his son J Bennix, 31, were imprisoned by police last Friday in Thoothukudi district for violating coronavirus lockdown orders in the state. The police accused them of opening their mobile phone shop beyond the 8pm limit. The police claim Bennix complained of chest pain and Jayaraj suffered from high fever while they were lodged inside the sub-jail of Kovilpatti. They were taken to Kovilpatti government hospital where both of them died within hours of each other, the police said.

A Plane Carrying A "White Lives Matter" Banner Flew Over Etihad Stadium During City vs Burnley

A plane carrying a "White Lives Matter Burnley" banner was spotted above the Etihad stadium during Burnley's clash with Manchester City, sparking outrage amid ongoing protests and demonstrations against racial inequality.  Since the return to play, all Premier League players have worn "Black Lives Matter" across the back of their shirts, with the tribute following protests that began in the U.S. following the death of George Floyd. In the Premier League, shirts have also had a Black Lives Matter patch on their shirts in addition to a patch for the (NHS) to commemorate the organisation's work during the coronavirus outbreak.

Police Searching For Suspects After Rioters Reportedly Stole More Than 70 Luxury Cars

The Police department in Northern California are searching for suspects after protesters reportedly stole more than seventy (70) luxury cars from a dealership near San Francisco Sunday night. Carlos Hidalgo, the owner of San Leandro Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership said, that although he blocked the exits as a precaution, the thieves “started ramming, ramming until they could get out. They took out chains and fence posts. “You walk in and it's like a war zone," said Hidalgo. “It’s not a cause for anybody. This is just bad thieves. It’s horrible. This is domestic terrorism brought upon to people that work. That’s not right.”

Two Banks Completely Burned Down

Two banks were on Saturday burned to the ground in a suburb of San Diego, as violent unrest/protest continues to spread nationwide. Two other businesses were also destroyed and vandalised.  Peaceful protests over the killing of George  Floyd in Minneapolis turned into riots as night fell on La Mesa, a suburb of about 60,000 people east of San Diego, leaving a trail of destruction. They torched the Chase and Union banks next door to each other. Windows were smashed at many businesses, including a Goodwill store, a real-estate office and a popular bar. Daniel Buxton, the owner of Play It Again Sports, said he returned to his establishment to find “complete destruction.”

A CNN Reporter Arrested

As reported by CNN.... One their crew was arrested by police Friday morning while giving a live television report in Minneapolis, where the crew was covering ongoing protests over the death of George Floyd. The crew, including correspondent Omar Jimenez, were handcuffed and detained as Jimenez gave a live report on a Minneapolis street shortly after 5 a.m. CT (6 a.m. ET). Police told the crew they were being detained because they were told to move, and didn't, one member of the CNN crew relayed to the network. "A CNN reporter and his production team were arrested this morning in Minneapolis for doing their jobs, despite identifying themselves -- a clear violation of their First Amendment rights.
