Google's AlphaGo artificial intelligence earlier this week proved that machines can outsmart humans. A new prototype from researchers at California's Stanford University shows that robots are more physically versatile than us, too. Not can the robot only fly, being propelled in the air by quadrotor helicopters, it can also land on a vertical wall then climb up it using spiny feet. When it slips a little, it can adjust on the fly. Scientists in Japan have discovered a type of bacteria that eats the plastic commonly found in water    and soda bottles. A bacteria that not only eats, but digests, PET plastic has been found by a team of researchers from Kyoto Institute of Technology and Keio University in Japan. The team went out hunting for the bacterium. They collected 250 samples of things like sediment, soil and wastewater, all contaminated by PET plastic, which is also used in polyester clothing, blister packs, sailcloth and packaging trays. They then studied the microbes found in the samples, working on a process of elimination to determine which of them, if any, were breaking the plastic down. They found just one: Ideonella sakainesis. A team of researchers has used  skin cells( adult ) to regenerate  functional human heart tissue, a major step forward  in bioengineering organs.   The day that heart transplant patients no longer need to wait for a donor match  just got a little closer. Researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital have  successfully grown functional heart tissue from stem cells created from skin cells.  Their paper has been  published in the journal Circulation Research . The team's technique potentially allows heart tissue to be built with the patient's  own cellular material, which reduces the need for an exact donor match, and also  vastly lowers the chance of immunorejection.
